Our group aims to understand how distinct glialcell subtypes (Oligodendrocytes, Astrocytes and Schwann cells) in the centraland peripheral nervous systems are generated, and how they shape pathology and repairafter injury. We have established a series of animal models for multiplesclerosis, spinal cord injury, optic nerve injury and autisms, as well as braintumor animal models. Our research goal is to dissect the molecular mechanismsof these neurological diseases and develop effective therapies throughpromoting myelin repair, nerve regeneration or functional recovery in variousneurological diseases, while blocking brain tumor initiation and progression.
